1. provides economic analysis to help government policy makers design new policy—whether through ’command and control’ regulation or market-based instruments 
2. assists businesses understand new policy and regulatory frameworks and work within them—much of our recent work has focused on the proposed Carbon Price Framework and the Carbon Farming Initiative, as well as existing market instruments such as the Renewable Energy Target and the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target 
3. delivers business cases to large corporations for major investments—these range from substantial supply chain changes to energy efficiency and embedded, low-emissions generation 
4. helps NGOs show stakeholders the economic value of environmental management expenditure— particularly how to quantify and communicate non-market values.
